What is Deafness?

The Sensory Service staff use the term ‘deaf’ to refer to all types of hearing loss from mild to profound. This includes deafness in one ear or temporary hearing loss such as glue ear.

What is deaf identity?

 

There is no right or wrong way to be deaf. How you or your child identify as a deaf person is unique. Working out your deaf identity (or your child’s) can help you feel proud of who you are and to take ownership of your preferred communication style.
