Acceptable Use Policy

All references to “Us”, “We” or “Our” shall be interpreted to mean a reference to the Royal Borough of Greenwich Council “the Council”). 

This policy sets out the terms between us and all users and visitors of the greenwichcommunitydirectory.org.uk.  

By using the website, you accept and agree to follow the terms set out in this policy and our website terms and privacy policy.  

Things you must not use our website for 

You must only use our site for lawful purposes.   

You may not use our site in any way to: 

  • break any local, national or international law or regulation 
  • break the law, commit fraud or use it for any fraudulent reasons 
  • send, upload, download or re-use any material that does not comply with our content and publishing standards 
  • transmit any data or send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs used to impact the use of any software or hardware 

You also agree: 

  • to contact the Council in writing to ask permission to reproduce, replicate or copy any part of this website that is not covered by the Open Government Licence (OGL) 
  • not to access without permission, interfere with, damage or disrupt any part of our website, any equipment, network or any software used for our website or owned or used by a third party  

Content and publishing standards 

These content standards apply to all material you add or upload to our website. 

You must:  

  • provide accurate information 
  • set realistic and accurate expectations of the services you add 
  • comply with all applicable laws 
  • use inclusive and accessible language and formatting 

You must not add or upload anything that: 

  • is defamatory about a person or another organisation 
  • is obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory 
  • is threatening, abusive or causes annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety 
  • breaks copyright, database right or trademarks  
  • breaches any legal duty owned by a third party such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence. 
  • promotes any illegal activity or advocated or assists any unlawful act such as copyright infringement or computer misuse 
  • impersonates another person, misrepresents your identity or your organisation, or your affiliation with any person 
  • is presented to be from the Council or endorsed by the Council when this is not the case 

We have the final say on deciding if any materials, contents, communications or actions are a breach of this acceptable use policy. 

We may update or remove content that does not meet our content standards or Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 AA)

Publishing criteria 

We will review requests by organisations or individuals who would like to add their services to the directory. We will also review services added to ensure they meet our criteria.  

We will publish listings that: 

  • meet a specific health, social care or childcare need  
  • are provided within or offered to residents in the borough. Unless an out-of-borough service meets an unmet need our residents have 
  • detail the service offered to the public, not the organisation offering it  

Suspension and termination 

If you breach this policy, we will take any action that we deem to be appropriate.  

Failure to comply with this policy could result in:  

  • immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our website. 
  • immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any posting or material you have uploaded to our website 
  • a letter of warning 
  • legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all and any costs you cause including any administrative or legal costs 
  • further legal action against you. 
  • passing on your information to law enforcement where necessary 

We reserve all rights in response to breaches of this acceptable use policy.  The responses in this policy are not limited, and we may take any other action we deem appropriate. 

Changes to the Acceptable Use Policy

We may revise this acceptable use policy at any time by amending this page.  

You are expected to check this page to take notice of any changes we make, as they are legally binding on you.  

Some of the provisions in this policy may also be varied or changed by provisions or notices published elsewhere on our website.
