Scam - Telephone Scam

As this July is Scams Awareness Month, Royal Greenwich Trading Standards are reminding residents about scams and what to look out for.

Week one is looking at Telephone Scams.

 If you receive a cold call, please be aware of the following:

Banks would never cold call and ask you for personal information over the phone.

The Police would never cold call and request that you purchase goods for them, they would never ask for bank details or your personal information just for confirmation.

Be aware that there are scammers cold calling resident. They will come up with any number of false stories to take your money, if you’re unsure HANG UP.

You should never be cold called for Technical support unless you have requested it.
