Scam - Courier Fraud

Royal Greenwich Trading Standards have had reports of a new Courier Fraud which is currently happening within the Borough. PLEASE BE AWARE

Courier fraud is where a victim will receive a phone call from a scammer who will claim that your bank account has been compromised, or your card has been cloned.

The scammer will usually claim to be from the Police or the Bank and state they are investigating the matter. They usually request cash or your bank card which will be collected by a ‘courier’ at your door shortly after.


The current fraud requests that victims buy expensive goods like watches and once purchased, the victims are then duped to handing over the items to the ‘courier’.


The Police and Banks will never contact you and request that you do this. If you are contacted in relation to the above fraud, please contact Royal Greenwich Trading Standards on the number below and also report this to the police
