Scams - Cold Calling Repairs Fraudsters
Royal Greenwich Trading Standards are warning residents to be aware of cold callers currently operating in the Borough.
These Fraudsters are knocking on the door and telling residents that they
have a loose tile that needs repairing which is often not true, a small price is
negotiated and the traders get on the roof.
The residents are then told that there is a major problem, such as a chimney
stack that may fall through the conservatory and they will be given some time
to think about having the work done, a matter of days later the traders turn up
and start work without permission. They then charge the consumer many
thousands of pounds and make them feel they have to pay.
