airTEXT: air pollution alerts and reducing your exposure

Pollution alerts and reducing your exposure

airTEXT is a free service that enables you to receive alerts when air quality is due to be poor in your area. You can register to have the alerts sent straight to your telephone, mobile phone or computer.

This is particularly useful if you, or someone you care for, suffers from:

  • asthma
  • emphysema
  • bronchitis
  • heart disease
  • angina

Residents can sign up for alerts using the following link: http://www.airtext.info/signup. Air quality forecast maps are available on the following web page: http://www.airtext.info/. There is accompanying health advice for the different possible bands of air quality (and links to UV, pollen, and weather advice) on the following page: http://www.airtext.info/health.

For further information on the effects of air pollution and how you can reduce you exposure (for example by planning your route to avoid the most polluted roads), please see the websites signposted to below
