Sensory Service

The Royal Greenwich Sensory Service provides support for children aged 0-19 at home and within schools, who have semi- or permanent deafness or vision impairment. Qualified Teachers of the Deaf (QToD) and/or Qualified Teachers of the Vision Impaired (QTVI) visit schools and/or homes to support meeting each child’s individual needs, as well as offering deafness/vision awareness training and British Sign Language courses. Specialist Outreach Workers support teachers and families and training by a Habilitation Specialist or Deaf Instructor is available. Schools can be provided with specialist resources such as low vision aids, Braille facilities, radio aids and adapted curriculum materials.
