Greenwich Integrated Volunteer Network
A new approach to volunteering in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, providing practical support for patients to maintain their health and wellbeing in the absence of a network of family and friends.
What is the GIV network?
Greenwich Integrated Volunteer Network is a partnership of third sector organisations that have a pool of volunteers to support adults out of hospital, to appointments and around the house. The Network is funded by the Royal Borough of
Greenwich and the Clinical Commissioning Group. The lead agency is the Greenwich Carers Centre.
What the Network offers
The Network offers practical support to residents in the Royal Borough of Greenwich who do not have a network of family and friends to rely upon.
All volunteers will go through DBS checks and will receive a comprehensive induction, training offer and on-going support.
The Network’s three schemes
- The Stay Safe at Home Scheme provides up to 12 weeks support and tailored to the patients’ needs.
- The Hospital Ward Support Scheme helps prepare patients for discharge, offers companionship and provides practical, generic support.
- The Door to Door Scheme takes a patient home after a hospital stay, visits the house before discharge and offers journeys to and from appointments etc. for the patient or carer.
